Devlog 10: The Final Sprint!

This is our last big sprint before the completion of this project. From now on the only thing we will focus on is polishing. Anything from particles to animations to more sound is what we will work on now, and we will try our hardest to not work on any new features.

Main menu and Winning screen new animations!

We added some new animations to the winning screen and the main menu screen. We also made the cauldron on the main menu screen slowly change colours to make it a bit more dynamic!

Loading screen

We also worked on a transition to and from a loading screen (which we also added this week). This is just to make the cut from one level to another less jarring, and it makes for a clean result overall!


Trees

The trees also look a bit different from when you last saw them. We have 'fluffed' them up a bit and gone for a bushy look, rather than the textured spheres from before. Aside from that we have also tweaked our materials slightly to add a tiny bit of colour variation to the canopy, this way the trees look a bit less boring and repetitive.






Programming Stuff

Lets add some polish eeyy, to make all of this feel a bit nicer.

We gave the snail an entire rework. There was some trouble w/ certain states that the snail had and it didn't even have a state machine. So we added a state machine, this allowed for really easy for the particles which was previously done in quite an obscure manner. Anyway sorry there is giffy for this one since it's really similar to what it had before it just works ALOT better

Do you like easter eggs? If you play enough times you might get a chance to find one. If you did you will definitly notice. But we wont spoil them for thy yet.

The witch movement was tweaked a little bit to improve the overall smoothness, playtesters we're complaining that it was too sensitive

Items and potions also can't fly out of the map anymore

And as if our UI was not yet fancy enough, we added some pretty clean transitions to make it feel more like a well oiled machine. Take a look below.
